A Way Through The Dark

"Sometimes in a storm it's hard to see the way."

Have you ever had a hard time seeing clearly? A child or baby cries out in the middle of the night, but it's dark and you awaken suddenly and stumble trying to get your bearings straight. You're in familiar territory, but because there's no light you're confused and disoriented. You fumble along trying to find your way, feeling, searching for the light switch.

Or maybe you've been caught driving in a heavy storm, the highway traffic slowing to a crawl as everyone cautiously negotiates the road. You turn on your headlights and windshield wipers, but can hardly see what's up ahead. You can't even see clearly to pull over. You can't stop in the middle of the road fearing a rear-end collision, so you press on hoping you're still on the road.

Life is like that; it's hard to see in times of darkness and during the trials of life. Sometimes the way doesn't seem clear, even in a familiar place. Confusion, fear, and even caution can overwhelm our hearts as we try desperately to know the path we should take. The storms of life too can make us question if the road we are on is safe. Is the road even passable? Has the bridge up ahead been washed away by the raging waters?

"It's hard to see clearly in times of darkness."

But even in unsure times, God is ever there. He is a present help in time of need, in time of trouble. His Word serves as that light in the darkness to illuminate our path. Comfort, peace, and security can be found in the roadmap of life, the Bible. And His Holy Spirit serves as that still small voice saying, "It's safe to travel, come on across the bridge, keep moving forward." If you're having a hard time in the dark, know there's a light all along the way and God will lead you. Trust Him.

Beloved:

I know in times of uncertainty, fear consumes you and crowds out My Voice. Your circumstances are overwhelming, but lean into Me. My grace and strength are sufficient for you. The storm clouds of life can block out My light and you feel all alone. But I am ever with you and in you. Let Me shine My Word and the light of truth into your circumstances. Put your hand in Mine and let Me lead you. Or on days you don’t even know the next step to take, let Me carry you. I have the strength to carry you through. I know the way. Do not try to look too far into the future for your mind swirls with the endless possibilities and fear overwhelms you. Instead, trust Me one day at a time, even sometimes, one minute at a time. I will lead and guide you for I am always with you. Always.

"Thy word oh Lord is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." (Ps.119:105)

"I will light your way. It's a promise!"
