Love Letters

"We can express our love in letters..."
"We can express our love in letters..."

With Valentine’s Day celebrations continuing, not only are flowers and gifts exchanged, but cards and letters are given as expressions of love. Valentine’s Day is probably the biggest holiday in which loved ones express their affection to one another. But this holiday is not the only time that we can express our love in letters.

I enjoy receiving letters and particularly love sending handcrafted cards. Many years ago, I joined a card ministry through my home church back in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Weekly, we sent letters of encouragement to the sick, hurting, or suffering people in our congregation or circle of influence. We also regularly sent birthday cards or just notes of encouragement to let loved ones or people know we were praying for them. After I moved out of state, I continued participating in that ministry for over 30 years by ordering and mailing cards on my own from Little Rock.

After my friend Terrie Hardy passed away, who was the artist and inspiration behind this ministry, I ventured into making handcrafted cards through a card-crafting group of like-minded women in Arkansas. My friend Kay, who inspired me in this creative venture, regularly hosts classes and retreats along with blogs and instructions to create and make these uniquely designed cards. These cards are a true labor of love and ways to express care, concern, and affection. Besides they’re just so fun to craft by hand.

Just like cards and love letters, the Creator of the universe left us love letters in the form of His Word. He wants to show His affection to His loved ones, encourage us, and comfort us in times of need. Anytime we need help or encouragement, we can turn to the Psalms or any of His letters in the Bible for help and guidance. He loves sending His beloved ones love letters, too. We simply have to open His letters and read them!

Beloved:

I love you deeply and long to express that through My words penned for you. Just know you are always on My heart and mind. You are My beloved one. Read My love letters to find out how loved you are!

“I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.” (Jeremiah 31:3)

“I will heal you and love you without limit. I will be like the dew—then you will blossom like lilies and have roots like a tree.” (Hosea 14:4-5)

“We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” (1 John 4:16)
