Collector of Sorts

"I'm a collector of sorts..."

I'm a collector of sorts:

I collect rare treasures

And broken things.

I collect all sorts of items:

Quite a few are slightly used

Others are worn by time and trials

Some seem damaged beyond repair.

But I’m a collector of sorts:

I come across these rare treasures

Along life’s pathways

Sometimes I seek them out

Often I find them in unusual places

Or simply discover them in the

Everyday course of life.

I’m a collector of sorts:

Each treasure is unique

A one-of-a-kind vessel

With significance untold

Priceless and irreplaceable

And worthy of value.

I collect these treasures of sorts:

A number require a little dusting off

Some simply need a bit of washing

Others could use a little TLC

To restore their former glory.

I’m a collector of sorts:

Some have been bumped and damaged

Others are chipped and broken

Most have been seemingly

Shattered beyond repair.

I collect these treasures of sorts:

Many have been neglected

A lot have been cast aside

Far too many have been discarded

Like refuse in the garbage piles of life.

But I’m a collector of sorts:

Just like another Collector I know

Who sees treasures untold

Of inestimable worth and

Great value and esteem

He rescues, repairs, renews

And restores His vessels

And then displays them

In His costly showcase

For all to see.

He and I collect broken hearts and people

We're collectors of sorts...

"He and I collect broken hearts and people."
