Home's Intrusion

PAIN rang my doorbell again and again! It was insistently demanding my attention. And, getting louder and LOUDER with each passing minute.
I tried to ignore this persistent, unwelcome, and annoying noise…not daring to peek through the peephole of life…
“Maybe it’s a salesman, and the bothersome interloper will go away and disappear soon!” I reasoned.
“Ah! Not so lucky!” I realized with a loud sigh! “And WHAT is that other sound I’m hearing out BACK? Someone pounding at my BACK door too?”
Sheesh!
Another rude intruder demanded my attention. SUFFERING joined in the melee: pounding and pounding for a response along with PAIN. They were so annoying, and an encroachment in what was once a quiet reverie in this BODY that I call home.
I leaned against the wall of my physique and mind, trying to ignore and silence their incessant noise!
I tried to bar the way and their entrance. The doorways were locked and bolted in place. “I forbid your entry!” I yelled. “Go away! You are not welcome here,” I passionately replied.
I sighed, “They aren’t listening to me!”
Sheesh!
But they refused to be ignored. And now they upped the ante with their dramatic flair for attention! They shouted to the ALARM system to declare their arrival as well.
ALARM, along with the fire’s inflammation, soon burst down the doors, pushing their way inside this house of mine, joining SUFFERING and PAIN.
They were so rude as to barge right in, uninvited, even, into this aging residence called my temple.
And soon they were dictating orders to me. “Seriously? The pure audacity!”
Sheesh!
“Go lie down!” PAIN declared. “You’ll need your meds and an ice pack, too! SUFFERING weighed in with that smart-aleck tone. “You’ve overdone it again! You know you’re not 50 or even 60 anymore!” ALARM resounded with her annoying and unsolicited advice.
Sheesh!!!
Then WISDOM joined in the chorus with her correcting voice. And I confessed to WISDOM: “I guess I kinda welcomed these intruders to show up at my HOME. But how rude of them,” I thought.
Ahhh! But WISDOM gently corrected me, while embracing me like a warm heating pad of comfort. “You know you really can’t be lifting and moving furniture... Not at your age anyway. And all that bending and cleaning like you used to…”
I threw up my hands defensively, but then sighed in agreement. “I know! I know! I should have listened to YOU in the first place.” I adjusted the icepack from my upper back to my lower back.
WISDOM replied, “But it’s okay! I’ve got your BACK. They’ll all be gone soon. If you’ll learn to heed MY advice next time…we will keep all these intruders away.”
Sheesh.
