Did You Weep?

Did You cry tears of joy
And stand in silent wonder
As all Creation reflected Your glory
While it took shape at the
Command of Your Word?
Did the tears of delight
Escape Your eyes
As You brought the earth to life
When Creation took full shape
In a watershed of reverent joy?
Did You weep Your
Greatest tears of joy
When man was formed
From the dust of earth
As the newborn son of creation,
Adam, took his first breath?
Did Your tears of delight
Turn to tears of sorrow
When man chose another way
And ate of the fruit
That brought the Fall
And wrenched the heart of God?
Did Your pain and sorrow grow
With man’s rebellion
When all mankind turned
From You in stubborn pride
And sin reached its full corruption?
Did You wail an ocean of grief
While Your heart was broken
When You were forced
To bring the judgment?
Did Your tears flood the earth?
Then only when Your grief was spent
And there were no more tears to cry
Is that when the pain and waters ceased?
Did You shed tears of joy
Just like Mary did over
The newborn Son of Man
Seeing glory dressed in innocence,
A pure Babe born in a fallen world?
Did You moan with sorrow
And grieve, time, and time again,
When man created in Your image
Rejected You for the ways of sin?
Did Your heart break
With agonizing pain
When they rejected
Your gift of love
The Lamb of God
Who suffered for their sins?
Did the well of sorrow
Fill with Your tears that day
When they turned their
Backs on You again
As they crucified Your Son
Rejecting the offering of eternal life?
Did Your tears of sorrow
Turn to tears of joy
Knowing the Son’s death
Was the only way to life
For those who would choose You
And accept the priceless sacrifice?
Did You weep then
Over man’s cruelty to man
And the cost of sin
On all creation?
Do You weep now
Until that final day?
Do You cry tears of joy
When one lost person
Is brought back to You?
Will You cry once again
When all creation is restored to You?
Tell me did You weep?
"For God so loved the world, He sent His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3: 16)
