Lighting A Path In The Darkness

"We are living in dark days..."

Turn the news on any station and the sobering times we’re living in can leave your heart quaking with fear at times with the darkness descending on our world.

Ukraine. Maui. Earthquakes. Fires. Open borders in the United States. Economic woes. Now Israel and Hamas are engaged in war with millions of innocent people caught in the middle. The lights have gone out for many who now live in hopelessness, terror, and darkness.

But we are to be like a shining lamp, a light set upon a hill to shine our light in the darkness. We are to bring the light of Christ and hope to the hopeless. Light is the thing that dispels darkness.

"Light dispels the darkness..."

Take my friend Louise Allison who walked away from a secure job in nursing nearly 15 years ago. Upon seeing the devastating increase in human trafficking in the state of Arkansas, Louise decided to do something about this encroaching darkness. She started an organization and ministry offering help, housing, counseling, job opportunities, and ways to rescue women and children trapped in human trafficking.

Louise is lighting a path in the darkness with P.A.T.H. (Partners Against Trafficking Humans). Soon they will host their annual fundraiser, Light The Path, on Thursday, October 26th to bring greater awareness and help to victims. Louise didn’t turn away from the darkness but rather shone the light on it and it in! She is making a difference.

"Let your light shine..."

What about you? In what ways can you bring hope and light to a hurting world? Surely, we can give to numerous charities and ministries in need of food, shelter, clothing, and help. And we can also pray. But where is God calling you to be His light?

We can either cower in fear and stay in the dark or we can help and get involved in our small way to shine the light in the darkness all around us. The needs are great all around the world and in your communities too. So let your light shine for Him.

Beloved:

I know you live in very dark times where there are wars and rumors of wars and an increase in evil. But did I not say that in Me you can have peace and to fear not? You are my vessels to bring hope and light to a dark and suffering world that does not know Me! Beloved shine for Me and the darkness will flee!

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5: 16)

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)
